Paramount Pictures has just canceled 'Transformers 7', scheduled for 2019. 12 years ago, in 2007, the first film of the franchise was released and, despite having a fairly mixed critical reception in its day, it was a true box office success . While the four sequels of Michael Bay's original film have managed to remain largely box office wins, its critical reception has been declining. From bad to worse.
Still, the studio seemed confident in moving forward with its plans for the franchise with a spin-off of 'Bumblebee' and a direct sequel to 'Transformers: The Last Gentleman' in the making. However, Paramount Pictures revealed - as has been picked up by the prestigious media Variety - that what is currently called 'Untitled Transformers Sequel (Transformers 7)' is no longer part of its list of films for 2019.
The next film of 'Bumblebee' will be released next December, as planned, but 'Transformers 7' will be replaced by the comedy 'Limited Partners' by Tiffany Haddish. What this change in his movie list means for the future of the franchise is not clear, but a rumor that emerged in early 2018 suggested that the studio might consider restarting the saga after 'Bumblebee', the film directed by the filmmaker Travis Knight, premieres in theaters.
