Mortal Engines is the new and impressive epic adventure directed by Oscar®-winning special effects artist Christian Rivers (King Kong). The project also has the participation of Peter Jackson, winner of three Oscars® and director of the trilogies The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, which, together with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, signs the script.
The film is an adaptation of Philip Reeve's award-winning saga of books, published in 2001 by Scholastic Corporation. Universal Pictures Spain has shown a first trailer of Mortal Engines, almost in the form of advance rather than promotional trailer, in which we can see how are the incredible buildings.
Thousands of years ago, a cataclysm destroyed civilization as we know it today. Humanity has had to adapt to this new post-apocalyptic era, developing a new lifestyle. Now the threat is giant mobile cities that besiege minor populations mercilessly. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) is a citizen from a lower level of the great mobile city of London who will have to fight for his own survival after meeting the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposite poles, whose paths should never cross and which forge an alliance destined to change the future of humanity.
The cast is completed by Hugo Weaving, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Leila George, Patrick Malahide and Stephen Lang. The producers of the tape are Zane Weiner (the trilogy The Hobbit), Amanda Walker (the trilogy The Hobbit) and Deborah Forte (Nightmares), as well as the own Walsh and Jackson. Ken Kamins (the trilogy The Hobbit) joins Boyens as executive producer. Universal Pictures will distribute the movie around the world.
