Natalie Portman spoke about childhood in Long Island, New York, and revealed that she normally assumes old habits when she visits her home. The Oscar winner, who assumes a strong New York accent in her upcoming movie Vox Lux, revealed that the role was natural for her. "Well, I grew up on Long Island so it's not that hard for me," the actress revealed. "Every time I go home, every time I'm around my friends from high school, I go into the role. It's really fun to go back to my roots. "
Portman also reflected on his shocking year. "It has been really meaningful and creatively satisfying in many ways," he said, contributing to the Time's Up movement and filming Annihilation and Vox Lux. "In November 2017, Portman lent his voice to Time's Up in a very personal way by sharing his story of sexual harassment. "A producer invited me to go on a private plane with him. And then I said: 'Yes, why would not I accept a flight in a private plane with a large group of people?' .
"I introduced myself and we were just the two of us and then they made a bed on the plane," said Portman. "Nothing happened, I was not assaulted, I said, 'This does not make me feel comfortable' and that was respected, but it was not right, that was really unacceptable and manipulative, I was scared." The actress of "Black Swan" also expressed her support to other women in the industry who have filed accusations.
"It's been great that everyone is finally talking about that," Portman said. "I think my first reaction when I heard everyone expressing was: 'Wow, I'm so lucky I did not live this.' And then, reflecting, I said: 'OK, I've definitely never been assaulted, definitely not'. I have had discrimination or harassment in almost everything I have worked in. I believe that all women have experienced this type of discrimination. "
